The Star Jar

from Day 21 · “Unexpected joy”

$49

Most days hold one thing that went well, and by morning it’s gone. The Star Jar is where those moments go instead. Write it on a gold strip, fold the strip into a star, drop it in. The note becomes the star; the jar becomes proof.

And on the days when nothing feels like it has ever gone right, you pour the stars out, unfold a few, and read your own evidence to the contrary.

  • The jar handmade glass, assembled and packed by hand
  • Gold foil strips high-quality origami paper, a year’s worth of folding
  • A premade star so the jar never begins empty
  • Three folding guides simple to intricate, one for each level

A note on waiting. Each jar is assembled in small batches by one maker. When a batch is gone, the next takes about two weeks. If that happens, this page will say so plainly, and you can decide if it’s worth the wait.

US shipping is free over $50; the jar sits just under the line, so almost anything beside it ships the whole box free.
No countdowns on this page, and no invented scarcity: how we decide.

The ritual

Three stars, three levels

  1. 01

    The simple star

Five creases and a minute of your evening. The guide walks every step, and the first few are allowed to be clumsy.

  2. 02

    The familiar fold

After a week your hands know the way without you. The folding itself becomes the quiet part of the ritual.

  3. 03

    The intricate star

For the days that deserve one. Slower, prouder, and exactly as satisfying as it looks. Made from 3 origami papers.

Origami is an inner-child act: the wish matters, and so does making the star that holds it. It gets easier every evening, and easier is not the point.
